Business leader Carolyn Chambers, 79, dies | KVAL CBS 13 - News ...

EUGENE, Ore. - Chambers Communication founder Carolyn Chambers passed away Monday morning at age 79.

Chambers graduated from the University of Oregon in 1953 with a degree in accounting. She launched KEZI television after being granted.

She was the president of Chambers Construction and owned several wineries in the area.

Chambers donated to many organizations, including the University of Oregon, the local art scene and the Hult Center in downtown Eugene.

University records show Chambers received the following awards from Oregon:

  • 1983 Pioneer Award from the the University of Oregon
  • 1986 Webfoot Society from the UO Alumni Association
  • 1991 Presidential Medal from the University President
  • 1992 UO Distinguished Service Award from the UO Faculty
  • 1995 UOAA Distinguished Alumni Award from the UO Alumni Association
  • 2001 LCB Visionaries Award-Alumni Trailblazer from the Charles H. Lundquist College of Business
  • 2008 UO Business Hall of Fame from the University of Oregon
