Caborn, sports minister when London won the bid in 2005 to host the Games, said he expected the Olympics to be a success but warned of a failure in legacy. Sport England published figures earlier this year showed only minimal progress has been made towards hitting the target of 7.815m people playing sport three or more times a week by 2012/13. The latest result from the Active People survey showed the figure at 6.881m, only a slight increase on the 2007/08 figure of 6.815m. Meanwhile, 21 sports have actually experienced a decrease in people participating once a week since 2007/08, while only nine saw an increase
